Overview

Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Intern to join our Accounting Department. This position offers an excellent opportunity for students or early-career professionals to gain hands-on experience within a dynamic professional services environment while developing foundational accounting knowledge and practical skills. The Accounting Intern will support various teams across the department, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing, General Ledger, and Trust Accounting. A Day in the Life

In this role, the Accounting Intern will gain hands-on experience across a broad range of accounting functions while supporting the daily operations of a professional services accounting department. Responsibilities may vary based on business needs and project assignments and can include processing invoices and payment transactions, posting cash receipts, assisting with client billing activities, preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, maintaining financial records and schedules, and supporting special projects and process improvement initiatives. This role offers valuable exposure to core accounting processes and provides an opportunity to develop practical skills applicable to a variety of accounting career paths.

 

We Know You

Candidates should be currently pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, with preference given to rising sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate-level students. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organizational abilities, and effective written and verbal communication skills. A foundational understanding of accounting and business concepts gained through academic coursework is expected. Successful candidates will possess a positive attitude, intellectual curiosity, and a strong willingness to learn, along with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a professional environment.
