Summary of Position

The Accounting Intern will support the Accounting team with day-to-day accounting activities, reporting, reconciliations, and special projects while gaining hands-on experience in a growing industrial services organization. The intern will work closely with accounting team members to develop an understanding of general ledger accounting, financial processes, month-end close activities, and internal controls while building practical business experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with account reconciliations and general ledger review. 
  • Support accounts payable and other transactional accounting activities. 
  • Assist with cash entries, banking activities, and Positive Pay processes. 
  • Participate in month-end close activities and financial reporting tasks. 
  • Support fixed asset tracking, reconciliations, and related accounting projects. 
  • Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) reviews, job audits, and vendor spend analysis. 
  • Gather, organize, and analyze accounting data using Vista, Spreadsheet Server, and Excel. 
  • Assist with inventory counts, process documentation, and continuous improvement projects. 
  • Participate in department meetings, cross-functional learning opportunities, and operational site visits. 
  • Complete special projects and present internship accomplishments and key learnings at the conclusion of the program. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting (preferred) or a related business field. 
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial statements. 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. 
  • Previous accounting, bookkeeping, or office experience preferred. 
  • Experience with ERP or accounting software preferred.
