Early Childhood Lead Teacher-Montessori School

Welcome to Sunset Montessori School, a 47-year-old Montessori school that is a subsidiary to the 89 year old nonprofit organization, The Hearing and Speech Center of Florida. Our SMS program follows Montessori Methodology and we seek dedicated credentialed staff members to grow and make our programs flourish. The school is quaint, small ratios, and has beautiful grounds for the staff, families and children to enjoy. 

We are seeking a Head Teacher with DCF credentials (or in process of obtaining) to  work with our 0- 6 year old preschool children in our various classroom ettings.

We seek Montessori Certified teachers but will also offer the professional training credential. We require English proficiency and a passion for early childhood.  Our staff must be confident in working with early childhood standards from following preschool schedules: feeding, sleeping, toileting, and most importantly learning expereinces that include all sensory, language, practical life activites and more. 

Candidate salary will be pending the current credentials: Top tier salary incudes Degree is Early childhood, Montessori certification (AMS/AMI) and DCF director credential; however, we will support other teachers in obtaining additional credentials.

The Lead Teacher will be responsible for overseeing all the academic programmatic aspects, and provisions of direct teaching to our children.  

Head Teacher will work alongside administration team for development of programs and grant opportunities.

This position is a full time annual position; We may consider 10 month, but wish to hire for 12 months inclusive of an extensive vacation /Holiday pay schedule. 

S/he will provide quality and child directed education to children within small teacher /child ratios.

Requirements:

• Experience as an early childhood teacher for the preschool aged children (0-3 certification/ 3-6 and 6-9 certification)
• DCF staff certificate required to work with preschool aged children ; director credential a plus!
• Ability to work well with families and other team members.
• Dept. of Education teaching certificate a big plus! (salary will be raised with DOE teaching certificate)
• Montessori certification or ability to train and get certified-immediately.
• Complete understanding and ability to implement all regulatory processes.
• Participate in parent and staff meetings pertaining to programs you serve.
• Participation in grant(s)/ professional programming- we will train you if you are interetsed.
• Participation in programmatic planning for summer programs.

• We will facilitate certifications in Montessori and DCF requirements if and as needed

  BILINGUAL (English-Spanish language) a plus but English  Proficiency is Necessary!

SMS offers training and tuition reimbursement benefits as applicable; benefits to full time staff; inclusive of extensive PTO, and supplemental tuition for children of employees to attend the program. Salary for positions have a range and is based on educational degrees, certifications, and years of experience.; however, we will compete with current salary and market.
