DescriptionScope of position
The Laundry Driver/Washer is responsible for collecting, transporting, washing, drying, folding, and organizing linens and other laundry items to support the hotel’s daily operations. This position ensures that clean, high-quality linens are available for guest rooms and other hotel departments while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Position Requirements
- Professional demeanor appropriate for a resort environment.
- Effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and hotel guests.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling, cleaning techniques and use of equipment/ machinery.
- Previous housekeeping experience in a large hotel environment preferred.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Responsibilities
- Collect soiled linens, towels, uniforms, and other laundry items from designated areas throughout the property.
- Safely operate a company vehicle or laundry cart to transport linens between the hotel and laundry facility, as applicable.
- Sort laundry according to type, color, fabric, and level of soiling.
- Operate commercial washers, dryers, ironers, folders, and other laundry equipment.
- Measure and use laundry chemicals according to established procedures and safety guidelines.
- Inspect linens for stains, damage, or excessive wear and separate items requiring additional treatment or replacement.
- Fold, organize, and properly store clean linens and towels.
- Maintain accurate counts and ensure adequate linen inventory for hotel operations.
- Deliver clean linens to designated departments and collect soiled linens as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laundry area, equipment, storage areas, and vehicle.
- Follow all safety, sanitation, and chemical-handling procedures.
- Report equipment malfunctions, damaged linens, supply shortages, or safety concerns to management.
- Provide professional and courteous service when interacting with guests and associates.
- Assist other housekeeping or hotel departments as needed.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required by management.
Education
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to communicate in the English language (Second language is a plus).
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy.
- Ability to work flexible schedules including holidays and weekends.
- Able to perform multiple tasks.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be physically fit to lift, pull, and push items up to 50 pounds.
- Also requires standing/walking/reaching and bending throughout shift (up to 8 hours).
