SUMMARY:
The Housekeeping Manager at Frenchman’s Creek Country Club is responsible for overseeing the daily cleanliness, presentation, and organization of the Club’s facilities, ensuring a five-star environment for our members, guests, and staff. This role leads and supports a team of housekeeping professionals, ensuring consistent service excellence across all areas of the property.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Department Operations and Standards
- Oversee all daily housekeeping operations throughout the Club, including member areas, locker rooms, restrooms, administrative offices, fitness and spa facilities, event spaces, and other assigned areas.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce housekeeping standards that reflect Frenchman’s Creek’s commitment to a five-star member and guest experience.
- Conduct daily opening, closing, and routine inspections to ensure all areas consistently meet Club standards for cleanliness, presentation, safety, and organization.
- Identify deficiencies proactively, assign corrective actions, and verify that issues are resolved promptly.
- Develop and maintain inspection checklists and quality-control procedures for all housekeeping areas.
Leadership, Staffing, and Performance Management
- Lead, schedule, train, coach, and motivate the housekeeping team while maintaining a positive, professional, and service-driven work environment.
- Maintain appropriate staffing levels based on member activity, events, seasonal demand, and operational requirements.
- Create and maintain staffing schedules to provide full coverage during peak periods, weekends, holidays, and special functions.
- Monitor attendance, punctuality, productivity, and overall employee performance; provide coaching and corrective action when necessary.
- Conduct and document employee performance evaluations in accordance with Club policies.
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, onboarding, orientation, and training of housekeeping employees.
- Cross-train employees to ensure adequate coverage and operational flexibility.
- Recognize and reinforce employees who consistently demonstrate strong performance and service standards.
Training and SOP Development
- Develop, maintain, and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for housekeeping operations.
- Ensure employees are properly trained on cleaning standards, equipment operation, chemical handling, member service, safety procedures, and emergency response.
- Maintain accurate training records and provide ongoing coaching and refresher training.
- Regularly review SOPs and update procedures as operational needs, equipment, products, or Club standards change.
Member Service and Communication
- Ensure housekeeping employees understand and consistently demonstrate Frenchman’s Creek standards for professionalism, discretion, appearance, and member interaction.
- Respond to member concerns, requests, and service issues related to cleanliness promptly and professionally.
- Follow up on significant member concerns to ensure satisfactory resolution.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve the member experience through cleanliness, presentation, and service.
- Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding members, guests, staff, and Club activities.
Special Events and Cross-Department Coordination
- Coordinate housekeeping coverage and cleaning requirements for weddings, member events, holidays, special functions, and high-volume Club activities.
- Develop pre-event, during-event, and post-event cleaning plans as needed.
- Inspect event spaces before and after functions and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly.
- Collaborate with Events & Catering, Food & Beverage, Operations, Fitness, Spa, and other departments to coordinate daily operational and special-event needs.
- Adjust staffing and priorities based on event schedules, member activity, and changing operational requirements.
Linen, Laundry, and Supply Management
- Manage inventory levels and par levels for cleaning supplies, linens, paper products, amenities, and housekeeping equipment.
- Coordinate the collection, distribution, storage, and availability of linens throughout the Club.
- Monitor linen quality, usage, loss, and replacement needs and coordinate with laundry operations or outside vendors as applicable.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels while controlling waste and staying within the department budget.
- Order supplies and equipment as needed and maintain accurate purchasing and inventory records.
Budget and Labor Management
- Manage the housekeeping department’s operating expenses in accordance with the approved budget.
- Monitor labor hours, overtime, staffing levels, and supply costs and take corrective action when necessary.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and control operating costs without compromising service standards.
- Review purchasing needs and make recommendations regarding supplies, equipment, and departmental expenditures.
- Maintain accurate departmental records necessary for payroll, budgeting, purchasing, and financial reporting.
Safety, Chemical, and Regulatory Procedures
- Enforce all Club safety procedures and ensure employees follow proper practices when handling chemicals, cleaning equipment, and other potentially hazardous materials.
- Ensure chemicals are properly labeled, stored, diluted, and handled in accordance with manufacturer instructions and Club procedures.
- Maintain and ensure employee access to applicable Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Ensure employees use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and receive proper safety training.
- Conduct routine safety inspections and promptly correct unsafe conditions or practices.
- Report workplace injuries, accidents, chemical exposures, and other safety incidents in accordance with Club policies.
- Ensure housekeeping equipment is used safely and maintained in proper working condition.
Equipment, Facilities, and Preventive Maintenance
- Maintain an accurate inventory of housekeeping equipment and supplies.
- Ensure vacuums, floor machines, carts, pressure washers, and other housekeeping equipment are properly cleaned, maintained, and stored.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance and timely repair or replacement of damaged or outdated equipment.
- Train employees on the proper operation and care of housekeeping equipment.
- Monitor assigned facilities for maintenance or cleanliness issues and communicate deficiencies to the appropriate department for resolution.
Documentation and Administration
- Maintain accurate documentation for payroll, attendance, inspections, inventory, purchasing, training, employee performance, safety incidents, and departmental activities.
- Maintain current housekeeping checklists, SOPs, training records, and inspection documentation.
- Review and approve payroll information for accuracy and timely submission.
- Prepare routine departmental reports and provide operational updates to the Operations Manager.
- Maintain organized records for supplies, equipment, vendors, and departmental expenditures.
Emergency Response and Special Cleaning
- Coordinate housekeeping response to spills, water leaks, bodily-fluid incidents, unexpected cleaning requirements, and other facility emergencies.
- Mobilize housekeeping staff quickly when emergency or high-priority cleaning is required.
- Coordinate with Operations, Security, Maintenance, and other departments during emergencies as appropriate.
- Oversee seasonal preparation, deep-cleaning projects, annual maintenance periods, and transitions during off-season periods.
Lost and Found and Member Property
- Ensure all items found by housekeeping employees are properly documented, secured, and turned over in accordance with Club lost-and-found procedures.
- Ensure employees understand the importance of discretion and proper handling of member and guest property.
Additional Responsibilities
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Operations Manager.
- Represent the Housekeeping Department professionally and support the overall goals and service standards of Frenchman’s Creek Country Club.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong leadership and people-management skills with a hands-on, service-driven approach.
- Demonstrated ability to hire, train, coach, evaluate, and hold employees accountable to established standards.
- Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and a high standard for cleanliness, presentation, and service excellence.
- Working knowledge of housekeeping chemicals, cleaning equipment, safety procedures, and proper chemical storage and handling.
- Ability to develop and implement SOPs, training programs, inspection procedures, and quality-control standards.
- Ability to manage staffing, labor hours, overtime, inventory, purchasing, and departmental expenses within budget.
- Ability to respond professionally and effectively to member concerns and service recovery situations.
- Ability to coordinate housekeeping operations across multiple departments and during special events.
- Proficiency with scheduling systems, payroll processes, inventory records, email, Microsoft Office, and other basic computer programs.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in a housekeeping supervisory or management role, preferably in a luxury hospitality, resort, hotel, or private club environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors and in a variety of environmental conditions.
- Ability to safely lift, move, push, and pull housekeeping supplies, equipment, carts, and other items as required.
- Ability to remain active and mobile for extended periods while inspecting and supporting operations throughout the property.
- Availability to respond to operational needs, emergencies, and special events outside of a standard schedule when necessary.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, lift, push, and pull for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
