Position Summary

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading all maintenance activities within the manufacturing facility to ensure equipment reliability, minimize downtime, maintain a safe work environment, and support production goals.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, coach, and develop the maintenance team, including technicians and mechanics.
  • Schedule and assign daily maintenance activities.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing training.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance (PM) programs for all production equipment.
  • Ensure maintenance tasks are completed on schedule and properly documented.
  • Implement predictive maintenance practices to reduce unexpected breakdowns.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

Equipment Reliability & Troubleshooting

  • Oversee troubleshooting and repair of manufacturing equipment.
  • Respond quickly to equipment failures to minimize production downtime.
  • Analyze recurring equipment issues and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Coordinate major repairs and equipment installations.

Manufacturing Support

  • Partner closely with Production, Quality, and Operations teams to support manufacturing goals.
  • Participate in daily production meetings and communicate maintenance priorities.
  • Ensure machinery is operating safely and efficiently to meet production demands.
  • Support new product launches and process improvements.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Conduct safety inspections and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Manage lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and other safety programs.
  • Investigate maintenance-related incidents and implement corrective actions.

Budget & Inventory Management

  • Manage maintenance department budget and control costs.
  • Track maintenance expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of spare parts and critical components.
  • Coordinate purchasing of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment.

Facilities Management

  • Oversee maintenance of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, compressed air, and facility infrastructure.
  • Coordinate contractor services and ensure quality work completion.
  • Manage facility improvement projects as needed.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive initiatives to improve equipment uptime, efficiency, and reliability.
  • Utilize root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement programs.
  • Track and report maintenance KPIs such as downtime, PM completion rates, and maintenance costs.

Preferred Experience

  • 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience managing maintenance teams in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices.
  • Experience with CMMS systems and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Bedding, furniture, foam, textile, or manufacturing industry experience preferred.
