Responsibilities
- Learn how all the project elements form a completed project.
- Take an active role in project document preparation, including drawings and reports.
- Assist with the design of conventional elements of projects including: ACI load combinations, shear, and moment diagrams, calculating column loads considering load path, foundation design (spread footings, piles, and pile caps, drilled piers), retaining wall design (cantilever and basement type), concrete member design (slabs, beams, columns), calculation organization and documentation.
- Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
- Participate in on-site condition assessment teams of existing facilities to determine the causes and solutions of deterioration or confirm as-built conditions.
- Collect data pertinent to the project design, including surveys, codes, soils, and other required information.
- Visit job sites to observe construction and submit field reports to Project Managers as needed.
- Assist in reviewing shop drawings and submittals.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies
Education Requirements:
- Junior or Senior level standing (or Master’s student) in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Overall GPA of
3.25 or higher.
- Preferred Coursework:
- Structural Analysis
- Reinforced Concrete
- Prestressed Concrete Structures
